MAC 24,
Does any one have any recommendations on boots? I want to try and get a jump on these. I do not have any experience on duty boots. I would like something that is pretty good quality. Thanks!

I'm looking at Bates. They make quality boots for military and LE.

If you head to MPC they have a Bates boot that you can try on. The staff informed me that nearly everyone in MAC 23 had that specific type of boot. Also they give you a pretty good deal on the price. Just a thought.

Were the boots at MPC Gortex? It would probably be helpful to get Gortex boots just in case you have to do detail work in the rain. I don't know- maybe something to think about?

I've been issued Rocky/Bates/Danner/5.11
The Rocky was very basic and will do if you find it cheap but ultimately the least comfortable.
The Bates Side Zip for me cut into my ankle a little too much, may just be larger sizes. A little more comfort than the Rocky.
The 5.11 ATAC STORM was the most comfortable and can be found for about $70 on Amazon. (Good for running... A rep of theirs has ran multiple marathons in them) But a little less durable. For the money I think it does well.
The Danner Striker II was nearly as comfortable as the 5.11 but made a lot better in my opinion. You will however pay significantly more for the Danner than the 5.11
(5.11 and Danner were both waterproof.)

Thanks for the advise. I went to Galls in Lexington yesterday and tried on a pair of Bates. I thought they felt good and were water resistant. I am going to probably go with those.
